We at MiauMall created our own original ramen, and it’s already available for purchase on our site! This new ramen is called Toryu (or Eastern Dragon) and today, we’re going to dive into the new ramen, including its flavor profile, how we made it and more! But first...
Why a New Ramen?
If you’ve been with us since our MiauBox Japan days, you know that we are ramen lovers here at MiauMall. And after a trip overseas, our CEO, Xuekun Liu, lamented the lack of really good instant ramen available abroad. With that in mind, we put in quite a bit of work in creating an original ramen that meets our demanding standard for noodles that you can get delivered right to your door! And honestly, when you love ramen as much as we do, why not just make your own original ramen when given the chance? That’s where Toryu came from!
Toryu’s Flavor Profile
Toryu is our own take on a classic tonkotsu (pork bone) broth ramen with all of the flavor of a ramen shop bowl. The broth is rich and creamy, just like a Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen should be, and it is packed with umami flavor with pork flavor, soy sauce, kelp extract and more. That means you’ll get a broth that is as full of flavor as it is comforting. We love the broth so much that once the noodles and most of the broth is gone, we like to add rice so we get to savor every drop.
And with delicious, high-quality straight noodles, you’ll have a tasty experience in every bite. The secret is that we went with a truly simple recipe made of wheat flour, salt and kansui (an alkaline salt solution) which makes a simple noodle that only enhances the flavor of the overall ramen experience.
The best part is, you can add even more flavor with the amazingly vibrant spicy miso paste. Made with a combination of fermented doubanjiang, miso, mirin, ginger and garlic, it adds a bold yet savory kick that elevates the experience further.

How MiauMall Made Toryu
We really put in the work to make this ramen the best that it could be. It all started with a very sudden taste test of a wide variety of broths and a wide variety of noodles (cruelly sprung on us after lunch one day). Fast forward past tons of taste tests, we arrived at the perfect combination of noodles and broth to create a high-quality tonkotsu that we all fell in love with.
That didn’t just mean choosing a broth and noodle combo either. We made sure that it was made with top-quality Japanese ingredients, meaning that you’re getting a true Japanese tonkotsu ramen experience from start to finish.
